DEDICATION FOR SHAKIL WILLIAMS

My son, Shakil, was everything you would have wanted in a child. I’m so sad that cancer had to be a part of my family life. I dedicate this story to him. I know he’s looking down on me and proud that I’m sharing our story. Shakil loved fishing. He won the kids’ Fishing Derby eleven times within a couple of years. He loved wrestling, and he never missed a show. He loved playing the video games, like PlayStation. He had so many game cartridges. One other thing he loved doing was going outside to play with his friends.

I knew what he really loved doing the most, and that was spending time with his family. Shakil was so funny; he was always clowning around. He was always making people laugh. I just knew he was going to grow up and be a comedian.

Shakil was a true trooper. Shakil is and was a winner. He did not lose his battle to cancer. He won. He won because he never lost sight of what was important: his family and friends. Shakil never gave up. He was a fighter to the end. Shakil will always have a place in my heart and he will always be missed.

I love you, Shakil!
